China Tea Receives Six Emmy Awards

Congratulations to United States Kennesaw State University Confucius Institute and Dean Ken Jin, Chinese International Tea Culture Promotion Base and Director Prof Xufeng Wang,  Zhejiang Agriculture and Forestry University Tea Culture College, North American Chinese Tea Assocition and the Georgia Public TV for the Emmy Awards nomination of <<China Tea: Elixir of the Orient>> in the evening of May 5, 2017 for the 69th American Amy Television Award. The documentary got seven nominations: Best Screenplay Award, Best Director Award, Best Cinematography Award, Best Post Production Award, Best Sound Award and Best Light Award, and Best Special Documentary Award.

On June 11, 2017, it is officially awarded with six Emmy Awards of: Best Screenplay Award, Best Director Award, Best Cinematography Award, Best Post Production Award and Best Light Award, and Best Special Documentary Award.

President James Earl “Jimmy” Carter Jr., the 39th President of the United States and the Nobel Peace Prize winner of 2002, and his wife, Rosalynn, send their greetings to Mr. Ken Jin, Dean of the Kennesaw State University Confucius Institute for the documentary <<Chinese tea· Elixir of the Orient>>, saying “it is a welcome addition to my collection”.

        这是中美两国茶人联手冲泡的一盏东方香茗，由北美华茶驿站在中国对应的汉语国际推广茶文化传播基地参与录制并提供学术支持、在和肯尼索州对应的美国肯尼索州立大学孔子学院与美国佐治亚州公共电视台（Georgia Public Broadcasting,简称GPB）联合制作的电视纪录片《中国茶：东方神药》（Chinese Tea. Elixir of the Orient）于2017年5月5日晚入围第69届美国艾米电视大奖，该片获得包括最佳专题纪录片奖在内的7项提名：最佳编剧奖，最佳导演奖，最佳摄影奖，最佳后期制作奖，最佳音效奖和最佳灯光奖。于2017年6月11日正式获得：6项艾美奖：最佳编剧奖，最佳导演奖，最佳摄影奖，最佳后期制作奖和最佳灯光奖。

该片获得巨大的成功，是中国茶文化的国际传播更多元化的创意和方式的表现，也正是中国茶文化走向世界的一种新的表达。据不完全统计，《中国茶：东方神药》，2016年4月黄金档首播便创下了三万多人的观看记录，截至目前，已于电视平台重播5次，每次观影人数高达20,000至45,0000人次，累计共计有15万至20万美国民众在电视上观看这部纪录片，同时面向全球，开放了网络平台的纪录片播放。播出之后，合作方与社会各界均对其给予了极大的赞誉。

此外，据世界茶叶组织总干事，北美华茶驿站负责人，在总领馆为老布什总统做过国茶宴的茶博士张兴才介绍，中华人民共和国驻休斯敦总领事馆李强民总领事还将纪录片赠送给了老布什总统和卡特总统等，卡特总统已将该纪录片作为个人收藏。佐治亚当地教育厅网络学校已将这部纪录片作为中华文化教材进行推广。

 

《中国茶：东方神药》为60分钟的电视纪录片，共分为五部分：茶的起源、茶的种类、茶的养生、中国茶文化、中国茶在美国等，摄制组除了在汉语国际推广茶文化传播基地取点拍摄外，还前往北京、潮州等地拍摄了一系列与茶文化相关的内容。汉语国际推广茶文化传播基地执行主任王旭烽表示：“中国茶文化的国际传播需要更多元化的创意和方式，电视纪录片就是一种茶文化走向世界的新表达方式。”
