Part 1 (5:30pm – 7pm): We will have a tea ceremony with a tea blending masterclass to practice making your own custom blend. President of the World Tea Organization and North American Chinese Tea Association Dr. Xingcai Zhang (Dr. Tea) will lead the class: “Tea: The Taste of the Silkroad”. We will invite attendees to bring their paper and pencils, so they can write about their discoveries of new flavors. Later, we will invite our attendees to write some piece of literature about their tea-tasting experience – any of those literary constructions could be, under author’s permission, published in the Graduate Review

Part 2 (7:30pm – 9:00 pm): We will be delighted by the music of the Silkroad Ensemble (by Youyou Ma etc) that will be performing Phoenix Rising, a musical rebirth and celebration featuring more than 25 Silkroad artists alongside Artistic Director and Grammy Award-winning musician and vocalist Rhiannon Giddens. Silkroad offers Phoenix Rising as a collective grieving song and a clarion call, uniting audiences through varied cultural experiences to create a more peaceful and just world as we emerge from a long and stunning upheaval.
